Rocky Bayou Christian School’s Knights Prep Summer Academy is intended to give students an opportunity to accelerate their learning, review, or get a sneak peek of next year’s learning objectives by taking courses during the summer term. Students receive Christ-centered curriculum with a Biblical worldview. Classes begin online June 8.

The Fast Track program allows for greater flexibility with the Fall schedule by allowing for a study hall or an extra class.  The Sneak Peek/ Review program provides students with the ability to preview or review material so they will be better prepared for next year.

For more information, please contact the Academy Principal, Tony Clymer (clymert@rbcs.org), or the Academy Head of Guidance, Melanie Clymer (clymerm@rbcs.org), to discuss details and class selection options.  Some online courses may require a meeting with guidance in order to assure that the class is the best fit for the student’s schedule.

FAQs

What is Knights Prep Summer Academy? Knights Prep Summer Academy comes in two forms.

  • Fast Track- This is designed for students who want to get ahead. Students enroll in semester or full year courses (HS credits awarded; MS grades recorded- this counts!) These courses have an impact on your report card, transcript, and GPA
  • Sneak Peek/ Review- This is designed for students who want to preview or review a course. These are “audits” only. No grades are given, no impact on transcripts or GPA.

When is registration? Registration will be open May 20th and throughout the summer. The end date cannot be moved due to Fall scheduling requirements.

How do I register? Go to www.rbcs.org > Academics > Knights Prep Summer Academy

What classes are offered? See below for a full listing of courses. Fast Track offerings are subject to Principal approval in coordination with the student’s Diploma track.

What is the price of the classes?

  • Fast Track- $225 for ½ credit (one semester), $375 for full credit (full year). Limit one full credit.
  • Sneak Peek/ Review- $150 (full classes- up to four full classes, no credit- these are AUDIT only and cannot be converted to credit).

When and where will the classes be held? Both Fast Track and Sneak Peek/ Review classes are online from June 8- July 24.  These classes are accessible through any web browser. Extensions will NOT be available.

Will this interfere with other RBCS summer activities? No, these are Online classes that can be completed at your pace. Please contact us with specific inquiries.

Do these classes count on my transcript?

  • For Fast Track, Yes. All Fast Track classes will be graded and recorded exactly as they are in the regular school year.
  • For Sneak Peek/ Review, No. These classes are Audit only and will not be graded or recorded on report cards or transcripts. These classes CANNOT be converted to credits.

Can homeschoolers participate? Yes! Homeschoolers in our Umbrella and Participation programs are welcome and encouraged to participate in the program. Registration for the programs will be the same as with full time students.

How will this affect my child’s fall class schedule?

  • Participants in the Fast Track program will meet with their counselor to determine the best options for the fall schedule. Typically, students replace their Fast Track class(es) with a study hall or another elective.
  • Sneak Peek/ Review classes will NOT impact your fall schedule.

Can I use Fast Track to “jump ahead”? Potentially. Some classes will allow acceleration of the schedule or a jump in your track. For example, a 7th grade student who completed regular math (earning a B or higher) could take Pre-Algebra during the summer session and jump ahead to Algebra in the 8th grade. THIS IS SUBJECT TO PRINCIPAL APPROVAL. Contact your Principal for more information.

What is the refund policy? Refunds for the Fast Track and Sneak Peek programs will be offered during the first week of enrollment only. Students enrolled in Fast Track classes may request the class to be converted to an “Audit” at any time (no partial refunds) and will not receive a ‘withdraw/fail’ on their record; they will simply need to take the class in the fall.
