Academic Team
The high school academic team was created in the 1990’s to encourage an interest in and an appreciation of the using the knowledge acquired in school and beyond to compete against local high schools and state Christian high schools in a quiz bowl setting. The team will attend local intramural competitions, southeast tournaments and the FACCS Brain Bowl. Competition is fun and membership is a boost to a high school resume. Seniors have graduation cord requirements. A Team meets to practice on Tuesdays and Fridays in Room 730, during lunch. Sponsor: Julie Mosley
Art Club – High School/National Art Honor Society
If you find yourself “doodling” in your class notes or enjoying drawing, and painting and having fun, the Academy art club is for you! It is a fun, and safe environment to experiment with different art activities. High School Art Club includes membership in the National Art Honor Society, monthly meetings, projects (classroom murals, musical backdrops, Fall Festival booth, homecoming float, tie-dye t-shirts) and service projects. AV Club
The AV club educates students in the correct operation and care of both audio and video equipment as well as understanding effective customer service to those being served. This is accomplished under a directed mentorship from a qualified individual who is also a teacher at the Niceville campus that desires to expand club members experience and personal development. Chess Club
The purpose of the Chess Club is to encourage participation in chess in a manner that brings glory and honor to God. It is to advance the students’ knowledge of chess, benefit the mind through a strategy thinking game, and to encourage students to participate in community service. Sponsor: Ray Allen
College Trips
For seniors who want to visit Bryan College, Lee University, Covenant College, and Samford University we take a trip over Labor Day to visit these colleges. The Florida College Trip is for seniors and often juniors who want to visit Southeastern University and other Florida colleges and universities. Sponsor: Julie Mosley
Culinary Club
The RBCS Culinary club is all about expanding our horizons in the kitchen. Every month we make challenging dishes from traditional to cultural cuisine. Whether a student is a novice or experienced in a kitchen, he will also learn proper cooking techniques from experienced cooks. We believe in community, making memories, and sharing these dishes with family and friends. This club is opened to students in grades 7-12. Sponsor: Ann Knie
Drama Club
Students will have the opportunity to develop their skills, get some extra acting practice, and meet others who want to do the same. Club time will focus mostly on learning new improv (acting without a script) techniques and practicing them through games and exercises. Other topics include original script writing and using theatre as a ministry. Drama Club is open to any student in 7th-8th grade even if they are not in a Drama class or involved in the shows. Drone Club
The RBCS Drone Club is about having fun, practicing new skills and learning about opportunities in the Science, Technology, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, and Mathematics (STEEM) environment using Drones. We practice weekly after school and have the teams divided into two periods (August – December & January – March). Each period is limited to 16 students. We normally take one field trip to the HSU Innovation Center in FWB and participate in one region wide Drone Competition. We use Tello Drones and Samsung Galaxy Tab A Controllers for practice and competition. We use hands on flight training and inside classroom work with lectures and videos to make our practices turn into real world experiences. The Drone Club is open to upper elementary grades. Junior Classical League
The National Junior Classical League was created to encourage an interest in and an appreciation of the language, literature and culture of ancient Greece and Rome and to impart an understanding of the debt of our own culture to that of classical antiquity. This club is not only for current and past Latin students, but for anyone who would like to learn more about dead languages, attend a regional Forum, and to take national exams for fun AND to boost the high school resume. Jr. High Academic Team
Middle School Academic Team is for 6th through 8th graders who are interested in applying their trivia and general knowledge to a competitive arena. Competitions locally and nationally each year. Come use those Big Brains! Sponsor: James Riches
Jr. High SGA
Students will have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills. Their responsibility is to further the fellowship between the 7th and 8th grader. To be an example of what it means to have a servant’s heart. Plan and organize activities for middle school. These students will also mentor the elementary SGA and be mentor by the High School SGA. At the beginning of the school year any 7th and 8th grade my apply to be a member of this organization. Sponsor: Rochelle Brown
Jr. High Science Fair
In science fair we attempt to learn the scientific method and apply it. Students choose topics to explore in their class projects. Students then have the opportunity to participate in our fair in early December. Those that excel may participate in the Okaloosa Walton Regional Science and Engineering Fair in late January. MathCounts
Some students love math. Other students fear math. MATHCOUNTS is the place for both! Middle school is a critical juncture when a love of math must be encouraged and a fear of math must be overcome. MATHCOUNTS is an engaging math club for middle school students of all ability levels to build confidence and improve attitudes about math and problem solving. Sponsor: Ceylona Chapman
Mu Alpha Theta
Mu Alpha Theta is the national math honors society. Rocky Bayou’s Mu Alpha Theta club focuses on preparations for math competitions, service to the community, and training students to serve Christ with all of their talents. All 9th-12th grade students are welcome! Sponsor: Carla Alldredge
Photography Club
Photography Club is a group that embraces the artistic expression of photography. The primary focus is on providing different opportunities for members to show their work while also opening doors for improvement. The Photography Club takes photos at different school events in order to provide the Yearbook staff with a large selection of photos for their publication. Sponsor: Laurie Bishop
Praise Band
Praise Band is a group of middle and high school students who learn about worship and lead worship during our weekly chapel services. Psalm 150:6 says, “Let everything that hath breath, praise the Lord”. Although there are different ways to worship the Lord, we serve through singing and playing instruments (keyboard, drums, electric and acoustic guitars, bass guitar). In addition to weekly chapel services, Praise Band also leads worship at off campus events such as Junior/Senior Retreat and the Annual Night of Worship. At the beginning of the school year, auditions are held, which is part of the criteria for serving in Praise Band Club. Sponsor: Harold Lewis
Robotics Club
In this club, students will learn about robotics, which is the science of designing, building, and using robots to perform tasks. Each student will help design and build several EV3 Lego robotic projects of their choice, using Lego robotics kits. The objectives of this camp will follow the engineering process as the campers will have to use logic, measurement, and teamwork to solve problems. This club will introduce programing as far as interest allow. Sponsor: Ray Allen
Science National Honor Society
The purpose of the Science National Honor Society is to encourage participation in and recognition of scientific and intellectual thought. It is to advance the students’ knowledge of classical and modern science, to communicate with the scientific community, and to aid the civic community with its comprehension of science. It is to encourage students to participate in community service and, in turn, encourage a dedication to the pursuit of scientific knowledge that benefits all mankind. Sponsor: Ray Allen
Spanish Club
The Spanish Club is an organization that enriches knowledge of the Hispanic Culture on campus. This club is not only for Hispanic students or students taking a Spanish class, but for anyone who would like to enhance their cultural awareness. Another great aspect of this club is that you get a chance to meet new people, make friends…and learn a little Spanish too! The only requirement to join is to come to the meetings on a regular basis and become involved in our activities. Sponsor: Micah Burns
Sr. Beta Club
The mission of Sr. Beta Club is to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service and leadership among students. Beta Club develops the leaders of tomorrow by recognizing and honoring high academic achievement, preparing young people for life and empowering them to be successful. Thespians Honor Society
ITS Troupe #7784 was founded in 2012. It is an international honors society that recognizes the work of students in the theatre and encourages them to use their talents to serve their communities. Members qualify for induction after completing required hours in the theatre in either acting or crew positions. Anyone who has been involved in plays (9th-12th grade) can apply for membership even if the shows were not at Rocky. Graduating members qualify to wear honor cords at graduation and have many opportunities for scholarships. Sponsor: Jana Obrigewitch
