Spiritual Formation

Learning who we are in Christ and how we can serve the Lord our God is at the very heart of our mission at RBCS.  We strive to help our students develop the skills necessary to fulfill God’s calling in their lives.  Inevitably, as students grow in Christ, they will be presented with challenges.  The structure of our school environment is dedicated to equipping students to successfully navigate spiritual, social and educational challenges in a Godly way.  Upon graduation, it is Rocky Bayou Christian School’s goal that students will put on the full armor of God and be prepared to serve Him and share God’s word with the world.

The Portrait of an RBCS Graduate

Requiring accountability of our students' actions keeps the Lord and His word at the center of our learning environment. Students who are involved with our Student Government and Leadership Trek also grow into discipleship roles with their peers, giving them a chance to practice their discipleship and leadership skills with the guidance of our faculty and staff.

On Thursdays, Academy students, faculty and staff have a time dedicated purely to worship and giving thanks to God. On Chapel Thursdays, the 7th and 8th graders gather in the sanctuary of the campus chapel to worship, while 9th-12th graders gather in the gymnasium. Students get the opportunity to sing, read scripture, and pray together. Guest speakers and local area pastors are regularly brought in to give testimonies to our student body.  Our student-led Praise Band also leads worship, giving students another way of getting involved.   Much like small group Bible study, RBCS also has Roundtables.  When students enter the Academy, they are assigned to a group of 6-7 students who are the same grade and gender.  That group is led by a faculty or staff member who will remain with them throughout the remainder of their RBCS experience. On Roundtable Thursdays, students meet with their roundtables for Bible study, prayer, and fellowship.  This small group environment also gives each student a faculty or staff member that will act as a spiritual mentor to them during their time in the Academy.
